Welcome to the world of QuickTime on the internet. QuickTime Plug-in Version 1.0 supports Netscape Navigator 3.0. The next release of the QuickTime Plug-in, Version 1.1, will support additional browsers along with QuickTime VR hot spots, and is due out late '96. Download the most recent Plug-in from the QuickTime site at <http:quicktime.apple.com>
We've tried to make installing and using the QuickTime Plug-in as simple as possible.
First, please open and read the "Software License Agreement".
Make sure you have QuickTime 2.5 installed on your machine. If not, run the installer (which is in the folder called Install Disk 1 inside the "QuickTime 2.5" folder) to place all of the necessary files on your machine. You will need to re-start your computer.
Next, you'll need to copy two files from the "Macintosh Folder", (1) "QuickTime VR Components" and (2) "QuickTime Plug-in", into the Netscape Navigator 3.0 plug-in folder on your drive.
Make sure you have QuickTime 2.1.2 installed on your machine. If not, copy qt32inst.exe or qtinstal.exe (which is in the folder called QuickTime™ 2.1.2) to your drive. Run the installer to place all of the necessary files on your machine. You will need to re-start your computer.
Next, you'll need to copy two files from the appropriate "Windows Folder" (either Windows 3.1 or Windows 95) and place them in the correct directories.
(1) QT Plug-In v1.0:
Copy the file Npqtw16.dll for Windows 3.1 or Npqtw32.dll for Windows 95/NT, and place it in the Netscape Navigator Plug-in folder.
(2) QTVR Component Version 1.03 or greater:
Copy the file Qtvrw.qtc for Windows 3.1 or Qtvrw32.qtc for Windows95/NT, place it in the WINDOWS directory of your primary drive.
Note: The QuickTime Plug-in will not work with earlier versions of Navigator. To download Navigator 3.0, visit Netscape's home page at http://home.netscape.com/.
If your browser is currently running, please quit it and re-launch it to enable the plug-in.
Please open the "QuickTime Plug-in ReadMe" for complete information on how to use the plug-in. If you maintain your own web pages, check out the "QuickTime WebMasters' Page" to see how to use the QuickTime Plug-in to enhance your own pages.
